Emperors and Empires

In the Emperors and Empires project, your child will learn about the growth and decline of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. They will discover the power of the Roman emperors and study Roman society and the Roman army.
Events they will learn about include:

  • The first invasions of Britain in 55 and 54 BC
  • The Roman conquest of Britain in AD 43
  • Boudicca’s rebellion
  • The building of Hadrian’s wall

Additionally, children will study the Romans in Britain and investigate the influences of Roman Britain on our lives today.

How you can help your child at home:

  • Find a quiet time to read through together the Knowledge Organiser which will be sent on Dojo. It contains all the main facts your child is expected to learn during their lessons. Regularly ask them questions to check what they have learned and understood.
  • Reading a range of fiction and non-fiction books with your child will help them develop a love of reading and help them learn new knowledge.
  • Build on your child’s passions and interests: Where you can, talk to your child about their developing interests and provide them with opportunities to learn more.
  • You also might want to take your child on a visit to the British Museum to learn more about the Romans.

Your support will make a massive difference to their self-esteem, confidence, and capacity to develop their skills and knowledge.
